Lasagna from 8th Grade Home-Ec
Sauce:
1 lb ground beef 1 lb. pork sausage (hot or mild, whichever you prefer) 1/2 c. onion, diced 1 (4 oz) can mushrooms 2 t. garlic powder 1 t. oregano 3 T. dry parsley 1 (12 oz) can diced tomatoes 1 (12 oz) can tomato sauce
Brown meats and onions in large skillet. Add remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until thick.
Remaining Ingredients:
1 lb. lasagna noodles, boiled 5 minutes and rinsed in cold water 1 lb. shredded mozzarella cheese 1 lb. cottage cheese 1 egg 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
To Assemble:
Heat oven to 350. Mix egg into cottage cheese and set aside.
In greased 9"X13" baking pan, spread a little of the sauce. Lay one layer of noodles on top of it, then spread more sauce on the noodles. Sprinkle on part of the mozzarella cheese and some of the Parmesan. Add another layer of noodles. Top this layer with cottage cheese mixture. Add another layer of noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Continue layering noodles, sauce, and cheeses, until noodles are all used, ending with cheeses.
Bake 30-45 minutes or until bubbly and browned around the edge. Let stand for 10-15 minutes before serving.
