Borage-Flavored Lemonade
¼ cup of lemon juice 2-3 tablespoons of sugar 3-4 medium-sized borage leaves 2 cups water
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend for approximately 30 seconds. Strain into a tall glass, and garnish with borage flowers.
*I made this today, and it was quite good. I used mostly stevia for the sweetener, though. Dave even liked it, but I gave it to him in a blue glass so the beautiful green color wouldn't bias his opinion.

Valerie, doesn't borage taste like celery?

Some people say it tastes like cucumbers, I think it tastes like...well, itself. It's good. But, I have only eaten the blossoms.
Valerie, I didn't get mine in yet. I couldn't break through the soil (yikes) and DH helped me do that this afternoon instead. Hey, I can put those seeds down in minutes, but to get six bushes planted and move the two raspberry canes...with help from DH and all the boys...I wasn't turning that help down!

I think that's lovage that tastes like celery, Gayle. Borage has a different, "green" kind of taste. All by itself it kind of tastes cucumber-ish. But mixed with the lemon, it just had kind of a fresh green taste. It worked good with the sweet and the tart. But definitely strain it! The flowers have a whole different kind of sweet flavor.

Lovage. Borage. Now I can't remember which one I used to have. I didn't have it long because the rabbits loved it! I planted 6 plants and they were all gone by the third morning, but right down to the ground. They didn't grow back, either.
