Sander's Hot Fudge Sauce
1 can evaporated milk 1 lb. Kraft caramels 1/2 lb. butter 12 oz Nestle's Milk Chocolate Chips
Combine all ingredients in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir until smooth. Continue to cook for 30 minutes, stirring to prevent scorching. Put hot sauce through blender or beat at high speed with electric mixer for a few minutes. Pour into refrigerated containers, cover and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.

When I could eat chocolate, this was my absolute favorite chocolate item. I could eat it with a spoon! (but I'm not going to admit that I did)

I remember Sanders bakery...does anyone else? Maybe just a Michigan fixture. Their chocolate syrup was delicious. Wonder if it is still in operation anymore.

I grew up with Sander's. When I worked at the dry cleaners, there was a Sander's right across the street. I went there for lunch nearly everyday - egg salad sandwich and a hot fudge sundae. They made their egg salad sandwiches with a layer of mayo and sliced hard-boiled eggs. I always added a little salt and pepper. Yummy!
When I was little, their caramel frosted layer cake was my favorite. I would eat all the cake and save the frosting for last. I've been trying to get a good copycat recipe for years.
