Easy Garam Masala
Fancy homemade Garam Masala is made with whole spices that are toasted then ground. This is the easy recipe, just measure, mix, and use.
1 tablespoon ground cumin 1 1/2 teaspoons ground coriander 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cardamom 1 1/2 teaspoons ground pepper 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Mix all ingredients. Place in airtight container and store in a cool, dry place.

Sounds like it would make a good chai. What do you use it in? (Besides sprinkling on sweet potato fries.)

I added some to sugared peanuts yesterday. They're pretty good and exotic. I've also mixed some into meatballs. They were good, too. Not sure what else to try it in, maybe rice or couscous.

I keep trying to imagine what it would be like, but can't wrap my head around cumin and coriander mixed with the sweeter spices. I'm not a big fan of coriander (do not like curry either) so I'm kind of hesitant on this one.

You might not like it. I do, but I also love curry. This really doesn't taste like curry, though. It's more of a peppery sweet spice blend, but subtle - at least if you don't use too much. I think I like it best on the sugared nuts. Everyone that has tried them, liked them. I added about a teaspoon to 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 1/4 cup of water (for 3/4 of a jar of dry roasted peanuts)

Hmmm, if it doesn't taste like curry, I probably would like it. I like the idea of peppery sweet. I think I'll reduce the amounts and make just a bit to try on something. You know if I like it a lot I'm gonna be putting it in/on everything! Plus, with cardamom in it, you just about can't lose. That is my absolute most favorite spice! OMG, sprinkle about 1/4 tsp on your coffee grounds before making a cup (or maybe about a tsp for a whole pot.) That is just amazing!

Coffee with cardamom is awesome! I can't make it now, as I'm currently without a coffee pot, but I used to and it was sooo good.
