I saw this on tv (Nigella Feasts, I think). You cut the kiwi in half crossways (across the equator, not end to end). Take a teaspoon and slide the tip of it between the peel and the fruit. Then, carefully, slide it around the fruit, under the peel. If the end of the peel doesn't slide off (which it doesn't about half the time), slice the end of the kiwi off with a knife. Be careful doing that because one end of the kiwi (the blossom end, I think) has a sharp spike on the inside of the fruit.
This gives you a nice, smooth kiwi, with very little waste.

Hey, that's good to know! When I peel one with a knife, I waste too much!

Today was the first time I tried this method and it was so much easier than the knife. I waste a lot peeling it with a knife, too. This way there was almost no waste, just a tiny bit at the end on the ones that stuck.

When the kids were in PS I would add to their lunch a kiwi, a plastic knife and a spoon. They would cut one end and just scoop out the fruit to eat. It was its own container! They loved it, and so did the teachers!

LOL After I posted this, that's the way Nick said he ate them, too.
