The new trailer came with all black appliances. The fridge is textured and the dishwasher is mostly a matte finish, but the stove is shiny. Well, it's supposed to be shiny, anyway. I can NOT get rid of the streaks! I've tried microfiber towels, chamois, ShamWow, and paper towels, as well as trying all of them with alcohol, Sheila's cleaner, dish soap, and glass cleaner. Everything has left it streaky and greasy-looking. I can't stand it, especially when the vent hood light is on. Any ideas on how to make it shine?

Contact the Manufacturer they should be able to help.

get the cover off the vent light and poke the bulb real hard with a stick -
seriously - go to the store or wherever the appliances stole you heart and look over the other SHINY black ones by the same mfr - it very well could be a dud paint job -

I wonder if it's got some kind of protective, greasy, coating on it from the manufacturer?

I almost didn't even buy the place because of them. I have had black appliances before and know what a nightmare they can be to keep looking presentable. (That's a nice way of saying I hate them) I don't think it's a problem with the paint. I get one part shiny, then mess it up when I'm working on the next part. Mostly, I think the biggest part of the problem is that I can't wipe the entire top in one direction. Those pesky burners get in the way. Maybe I should wax it.

See if ya can get a can of that MEK. It takes every lick of grease off anything! It's flammable, though, so maybe rubbing the stove down with it wouldn't be such a great idea after all....

Did you try cleaning it with baking soda and rinsing with vinegar? What ever you do, don't use a magic eraser on it...It will leave permanent scratches that look like streaks.

I'm glad you said that about the magic eraser! I probably would have tried that next. Or maybe I should scratch up the whole thing and pretend it's a brushed finish. I'll try the baking soda with a vinegar rinse this weekend. I'll dry it with paper towels so I'll know for sure there's no grease on them. I'm not always positive about the towels.

On the parts of my appliances that are black (dishwasher is black, stove is black and white), I use Method cleaners, especially their glass cleaner.
