I just moved a small stack of newspapers and magazines for the umpteenth time. I want to keep them until I go shopping, since they're mostly sales papers and unread magazines, but I don't know where to put them.
What do you do with papers and magazines that you're not finished with yet?

Do you have a box or basket you can put them in?
How long till you get a storage shed of some sort?
Have you though of doing a pantry in the hall like I did? Mine holds a lot, though of course I have a lot more jars than that, it does make a huge difference.
Is there anyplace in the kitchen you could hang a pot rack? Some have a shelf too. I made one once of 1x2s and S hooks that was cheap and looked nice.

Kim, we've been lining both hallways with bookcases that are about 6 1/2 feet tall. I have 10 of them so far and they're nearly full, including the tops. That's all I have room for. I've also been hiding stuff under Dan's bed. He doesn't know and he's too stiff to get down there and look.
I don't know when we'll get additional storage built. I'm hoping it's soon, but it's going to be a lot of work since it will be so close to the house. Everything will have to be done by hand, including digging out the hillside for the storm shelter.
Joan, that's probably what I'll do. I have an empty shelf in the bathroom, at least until I find my towels.

Any chance of getting a storage trailer like mine?

I'm not sure, Kim. I talked to Dan about it last night, and he likes the idea, but we don't really know where to find them or if we could afford one.

Good idea! I will do that! I really think he likes the idea, even if it's just for storing HIS stuff.

i have one - not real big, i believe it's only 29 feet long - found it by seeing a lot with many decrepit semi-trailers stored and stop to ask if any were for sale - got it for $1K delivered (about 40 miles) - happy with it and only caution i would have would be to avoid the ones with the roll-up door (they turn to junk before any other part of the unit) and stick with the swing-out doors - i'd also suggest you pick one out after a big rain to see if the thing leaks -

Do you have trouble with them sweating when the temps go from hot to cool in the spring and fall. That was what messes up stuff when we had it stored in the metal trailer for 9 months. What was in tubs and covered fared well.

What was in tubs and covered fared well. i view it as an unheated, unsealed space not much different than an old garage - things not in a closed container are apt to become musty just like in a garage - what i was needing was physical security (something that could be well locked) and freedom from critters and for that it works well -

Metal cans have a tendency to rust in there if not protected. But then I have the same problem in the house since it isn't air conditioned except the bedrooms with window units. I keep windows open as much as possible.
