I didn't grease, but I was using a glass baking dish. I figured they had enough butter to not stick. They popped right out.

That's what I thought, too, Valerie. Maybe the shape of my pans didn't help -- they're square, but not rounded in the corners like some glass pans are.
Anyway, when I was first struggling with them, I thought, not doing THIS again! But they are really tasty (and so easy). With DH home now 24-7, I am having to keep the three (growing) boys AND him full, and these would help. I am going to put my thinking cap on.

I'll have to try these, but I'm wondering what holds these cookies together, as there are no eggs. Is it the butter when it cools?

Patty, I think it's the butter and sugar melting together. It creates a sort of buttery caramel.

That's what I think too, Gayle. I thought about cutting the sugar back a bit, but then they might not stick together as well. I think we need another batch today. It's cold outside.
