We got a good sized section raked smooth today then hoed up into rows (not real high though). We planted one row in summer squash and zucchini. We planted 11 amish paste tomatoes in another row (one died) and put one other tomato on the end. We don't know what kind it is though. It came in our rainbow heirloom collection, so it's a surprise. They're all slicing size tomatoes, though. We can't wait to see what we get with them. We had five more rainbow mix tomatoes in that tray, so I went ahead and planted them in the next row. I promised not to plant any more without Becky, though. So that's all. I've got 5 more big tomatoes to go in, 2 yellow pears, and 2 black cherries. I want to finish this row in tomatoes, then put a row of melons. I'm hoping the tomatoes will kind of act like a barrier between the melons and cucumbers, just in case they can cross-pollinate.

That's kind of how I plant, Val. I've got those rows of onions between the collards, broccoli and cabbage. Then the turnip greens are cross ways at the ends of those rows and the cauliflower on the other side of the turnip greens. Sounds like you've got a good start.

Beck got on a tear this morning and raked the whole rest of the garden! I hoed up two more rows and we got them planted. We now have all the tomatoes in, all the peppers, the eggplant, 3 hills of watermelon, and 3 hills of these little Rich Sweetness melons I got from Baker Creek a couple years ago. They make a pretty little yellow and orange striped melon with sweet white flesh.
Tomorrow I'm doing a row of cucumbers, then getting started digging the trenches for the corn. We're gonna do 5 half rows of corn, so it's like a big block. This time I'm taking a ruler out with me and making sure I get that corn far enough apart. Our rows are 36" apart, which gives us about 2 ft of walking space (at least now, before everything is grown up.)
