I made this today and everyone agrees that we could just drink it! It's that good! Doug is the only one who has tried Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce and he said it tastes exactly like it.
BBQ Sauce Like Sweet Baby Ray's
1 1/4 cups ketchup 1 cup dark brown sugar 1/4 cup molasses 1/4 cup pineapple juice (or apple cider vinegar) 1/4 cup water or strong coffee (or add 1/2 t. instant coffee, optional) 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 2 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard 2 teaspoons smoked paprika 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 teaspoon pepper
Combine all the ingredients in a medium size sauce pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for five minutes or until all the sugar has dissolved and it's as thick as you like. Serve immediately or cover and store in fridge.
Makes about 2 1/2 cups.

Oh thank you for this!!!!! Sweet Baby Ray's is my favorite, and what I usually buy! And I'm almost out! (Now you know why I planted 26 tomato plants this year I'm hoping to get enough maters to make my own sauce to make my own ketchup to make my own BBQ sauce!)

If you want to save the pulp for juice or sauce, use the tomato skins to make a powder that you can turn into paste to make the ketchup to make this. Whew!

I made this tonight and it was oh so yummy! Matter of fact, it was better than the sweet baby ray's. I had an almost empty bottle of SBR's so I rinsed out the bottle and put the homemade in it. I used a sharpie to scratch out "Ray's" and wrote "Mom's" That stuff was way better, and NO HFCS!!! SBR's first ingredient is HFCS! I won't be buying it anymore.
