1 cup rolled oats 3/4 cup hot water or milk ( i use milk ) 1 egg beaten 1 large onion chopped 1 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1/4 cup oil
soak the oats in milk for ab out an hour . Add the rest of ingredients and drop by spoonfuls into the hot oil in a skillet . Brown on each side , drain on paper towels and serve

Never ever would have thought to do that but I'd bet its real good. I'll be trying these today.

Is the oil for frying or do you put it in the croquette mixture?

you fry them in the oil sorry I didnt make it clear this was one of the recipes in my Aunt book she passed a coupole of Months ago she was the home ec teacher for years she gave this one a 5 out 5 .. I spend a couple of Months with them when I was little she started my cook book collection when I was 6 she brought me my2nd Betty Crocker . Daddy brought me my first Betty Crocker I use it all the time

Sounds kinda like a hush puppy, only oatmeal instead of cornmeal.
