I also want to make some pumpkin butter, and I can't believe none of my grandma's books have a recipe! Do you have one you've used? If not, I'll just google one, but I'd rather have one y'all have already tried and know works.

I don't use a recipe. I put the pumpkin in the crock pot about 2/3 full. Sweeten it to suit your taste. I use around 2 cups of white sugar and a cup of brown sugar. Put in 1/2 cup of AC vinegar or Apple juice. For the spices I use one of those little containers of pumpkin pie spice and some allspice. Remember the spice gets stronger. If you start it in the morning it should be done by supper. I have gnats so I put the lid on crosswise with a thin piece of cotton over it . Cook on high scraping the sides down every now and then.

Oooh, my house is smelling good! Believe it or not, I usually overcook stuff in the crockpot, so I'm doing mine on the stove. Keeping an eye on it good, though.

Jackie Clay cooks it in a roasting pan in the oven. I'm thinking I'll try that this week. That way I could do more at one time.
