I've made 2 of these so far as birthday presents. Book marks. I used a cross charm, 3 metallic beads and 1/8" ribbon. The ribbon has to be narrow enough to thread on a needle. First measure the length you need to fit in a book with about 2" hanging out of the book, then double that length. Thread it through the cross or other charm you choose. Make sure both ends are even, then thread one end onto a needle. Thread all the beads onto that ribbon, but don't move them all the way down yet. Take the ribbon off the needle, then thread the other end of the ribbon onto the needle and put that ribbon through the beads. Slide the beads up to the cross. This gives you a cross and 3 beads that will hang out the end of the book while the ribbons hold the page. Now firmly tie the ribbons in a knot below the last bead so they won't slide off. You can nip off the ends of the ribbons if they look rough or creased from threading through the needle. A 10yd roll of that ribbon is 44 cents at Walmart. The charms and beads are in their craft section for a couple of dollars that will make several book marks.
