Hey, do y'all think, when it comes to chill hours and fruit trees, does the temp have to be exactly below 32 for it to count?
I was wondering if maybe all these hours we are spending at say 33 and 35 might count for something this year.
What do y'all think?

Temps between 32 and 45 are what are counted. Below 32 doesn't count. 45-60 is neutral and above 60 means you need more chill hours to negate the effects of the warmer weather.

Thank you, Kim! That's good news!!! We get plenty of hours between 32 and 45! Pretty much this past week. That should be enough to coax some blooms out of the peach trees. These southern varieties only require about 100 hours, so we're in good shape.
Anywhere I've read it just said hours below freezing where chill hours, but the trees don't know the exact degree they're at.

There is a spray you can get that will help with blossom set but you have to know what you are doing to use it.

I better leave that alone. I think I need to get a third tree. Some years these two don't both bloom at the same time. When that happens, neither one gets pollinated, and no peaches! I had three to start with, but one was runty and just wouldn't go, and it died. It's time to fertilize these guys this week. I think I'll plant my clover seeds under them, too. Then again, maybe I better hold off on that another week or two.
