I made a batch of this today. I didn't want to like it, but it's delicious! Instead of half & half, I used a cup of heavy cream and I added 1 t. of vanilla (to strawberry Kool-Aid) It's not completely frozen yet. If I don't quit with the quality control, I'll probably have half of it eaten before it's ready to eat.
Kool-Aid Ice Cream
1 packet 0.14 oz unsweetened kool-aid, any flavor 1 cup granulated sugar 2 cups whole or 2% milk 1 cup half & half 2 t. vanilla extract, optional
Mix one packet unsweetened Kool-Aid mix together with granulated sugar. Add the milk, half & half and mix until dissolved. Pour mixture into a shallow freezer container. (I mixed and froze mine in a metal mixing bowl, then beat it in the same bowl before transferring it to a freezer container)
Freeze for 1 - 2 hours until frozen around edges. Transfer mixture to a bowl and beat until smooth, using a spoon, whisk, or electric mixer.
Return to freezer container, cover and freeze 8 hours or over night. Remove 20 minutes before serving to soften slightly.
Recipe yields about 3 1/2-4 cups.

Sounds intriguing. I wonder if DD1 could handle it. Hmmm...

Where do you get Kool-Aid now? I haven't seen it in years.

Every grocery store and dollar store sells it by me. I've even used the generic kind in this recipe. It works, too.
