We cut the big long Choctaw Sweet Potato Squash today. One side is for the chickens (half of that at a time) and the other half I cleaned and baked. I washed seeds from it and laid them out to dry. Counted the first few inches across one end of them and stopped at 100. So there are several hundred seeds out of just half of that squash. I cut and seeded a small Seminole pumpkin a few weeks ago. Only got enough seeds for one packet, but I've got 3 more pumpkins to cut. The squash originated in southern Georgia and the pumpkins are from Florida, so they are both well adapted to hot humid summers and seem to be pretty much bug resistant. If anyone would like seeds, just PM me an address if I don't already have it and I'll send you a packet.

If I can get one of the guys to pull my pumpkins out of the shelf I'll be cutting one up either this evening or in the morning. I found the perfect place to store them this winter and they've done well. It's an open shelf where my dishwasher used to be. Mike never completed turning it back into a cupboard with doors so it's just 2 shelves. Only problem is I can't reach all the way to the back of that bottom shelf. Anyway, as soon as I get one cut up I'll get the seed saved from it. Then it will only take a bit to dry them. I've got the squash seeds pretty well dry and will be packaging them soon.
