Ms. Norma brought me a bunch of plants the other day! Dave was thrilled, I could tell. She dug me up a young wisteria, a bird of paradise, a young elephant ear, two small lantanas, and a pink Mexican petunia (she thought I already had purple, but I don't). She's bringing me purple Mexican petunias next time, and a cutting of something called sweet shrub. I'll be working on getting those planted today, I guess. I've got some cuttings rooting for her. The mint, lemon balm, and bee balm seem to be rooting fine. I've also got a piece of confederate rose starting. I took it up yesterday and sure enough, it had a little root started! The aquaponic bed is a perfect place for starting cuttings. Just the right moisture and not too much heat or sun. I'm also going to split those begonias with her that my MIL gave me. This is kinda fun! I've always focused mainly on food plants. She has focused on plants with flowers. So now, she's branching off into growing veggies and herbs (I have her my extra tomato, squash, and zucchini seedlings) and she's helping me branch off into flowering perennials. We both agree that if it can't survive the winter on its own, we don't want to bother with it (with a few rare exceptions, like my limequat tree and a couple of other things).
