Hi All! This page www.breathmd.com/homemade-mouthwash.php has a plethora of information about mouthwashes. Actually, it gives the breakdown of various herbs and other ingredients and what they do, so you can pick what you want to use. Then it gives you the basics, like active ingredients (the herbs, essential oils, etc), sweeteners, emulsifiers, etc. Finally, it gives about half a dozen or so recipes, which you can then tweak using the previous information. Awesome, huh?!

PS - I just made some, using water, baking soda, peppermint oil, tea tree oil, and a tablespoon of honey. It's every bit as good as something you pay $5 or $6 for from the health food store! PPS - Honey is antimicrobial, so I'm not worrying about it promoting bacteria growth on my teeth.

I put honey in my homemade toothpaste (coconut oil, peppermint oil, clove oil, and honey)

We use a mixture of peroxide and water. 1:1 and I just put a few mint leaves in there. It works REALLY well, and is VERY cost effective.

M, I'm going to try that. I keep a lot of peroxide in stock, because I use it for cleaning, and I have massive amounts of mint.

I'm trying it, too. I don't have peroxide, but it'll be on my list for the next trip to town. Hey, that would probably make a good boo-boo spray, too.

I like the peroxide mix, although I put a teench too much peppermint oil in it. Next time I'll use real mint.
