I'm goin to be Little Mary Sunshine here. Had a marvelous day yesterday and played all day with the grandson. He is a hoot. He HAS to be rocked to sleep. Wont go any other way. (wonder whose fault that is There aint hardly nothin sweeter than rockin a snuggle baby to sleep. I'm goin to do it as much as possible because at some point he will decide he's too big. Or maybe not. Hailey is 7 and almost as tall as I am and she still sits in my lap. I ask her the other day if she was still goin to be sittin on my lap when she was 25. She said yes. Didnt get anything done I planned to do, but thats Brody's fault. Maybe tomorrow. Ya'll have a good one. You are right. Forced holidays are a pain. We just give them up.

Peggy, I like your kinda day! Those holidays wouldn't be so bad if the grown ups acted like grown ups instead of pouty bratty kids. Oh well, over and done with! I'm off work today, so I have a little list of to-dos and school work. DJ gave me a gift card to Home Depot and I'm debating whether or not to go there for a couple flower pots. I think I may just get a couple cheapo pots at Walmart that will meet my needs, and save the gift card for buying supplies for temporary chick housing. We'll be needing that in a few weeks.

I'm so blessed not to have to go off to work everyday! I can't hardly get done with everything now.
I have a ton of laundry to do today, so I guess that's what I'll be doing.

Morning ladies!!!!
Haven't been on in a while - so while reports are running I'm catching up.
Tonight will be another night of running. I have an eye doctor appointment. I really need to clean the kitchen afterward, but not sure if I'll have time, or how I'll feel.

For one of my assignments this week, I had to interview a teacher. Good thing the assignment wasn't any later in the class; this is the next-to-last week of school! The secretary at the elementary school gave me a willing teacher's email address, so I did that this morning right after Dave left. Then I went back to sleep for a bit. Today I have to do some other school work, fold all the clean clothes and get them put away, pay bills, plant my lemon balm and catnip (I got a couple pots at Walmart last night) and make a lid for the chick box out of wire, since in a few more days they'll be jumping out. They're trying real hard to make a break for it! I need to weed and water the peach trees too. At least since reading Debi's post from last evening, I know what we're having for supper.

I had to go to the store today! I almost never go to the store between regular shopping days. I know Ben isn't eating right, so I wanted to lay in some fruit and more fresh veggies. I broke down and bought some onions, but the Vidalias were on sale, 2 (3#) bags for $5. I just got one bag, though.

Never did do the lid for the chicks or do the peach trees yesterday. I just felt like crud. Stupid time of the month! Gosh I hate it! I'll put the hose on the trees today, and pull the weeds on Saturday, since it's finally my turn to be off this weekend. Anyway, feeling better today. Need to do a couple school assignments before work, and maybe I'll do the chick lid this morning, too. The Schwan's guy comes today, so I need to see what I need and make my list. Y'all have a wonderful day!

I keep thinking about checking out Schwann's, since the delivery guy lives very close to me, but I keep forgetting. How are their prices?
I have company today, Ben and his roommate Andy. I don't guess we'll get much done today. I did get my prayers said, the house cleaned, and a couple of loads of laundry done before they got up.

Compared to cooking from scratch, they are a little bit high. Compared to eating out, cheap. The quality is excellent though. Once I'm no longer working at the restaurant and can actually be home cooking, I will probably not buy as much from them. You can check out their prices online, www.schwans.com/ They have the most wonderful Triple Lemon Frozen Yogurt, which I am currently working my way through a carton of. I got up with Dave at 5:40 this morning, as usual, did his lunch & breakfast, but today I never did go back to bed! I've been working on school work ever since (and checking in with all my peeps online). I'm gonna be one tired pup by time I get home from work at 10:30 tonight! I had to rewash a load of clothes that I forgot to put in the dryer yesterday. I say that should fulfill my laundry requirement for today! I'm about to get me some tea and toast and settle in for a read for a while. I only have one more little thing to do for school today, and then I'm free until 1:15!

Thanks for the link, Valerie. It's late right now, but I'll look it over tomorrow, when things settle down here.
Ben and his roommate, Andy have been a joy to have this week! Andy brought his guitar, so there has been a lot of singing and laughing. They've both been broke, so have really enjoyed mealtimes - sometimes 5 times a day! LOL
Nick, however, is another story. He got booted out of Job Corps Thursday. They drove him home. Then, just before dark, he took off on foot. He didn't know where he was going, didn't take any clothes with him, had no money or food, but he was heading out. Well, starting about an hour later, the calls from the cops started. I kept telling them he's an adult and can go where he pleases and, no, I'm not going to pick him up.
So, this morning, he shows up at Dan's work and Dan took off an hour and brought him home. I woke up to find a pile of breathing blankets on the sofa. It scared me, since I didn't know he was here or how he got in.
So, we got ready and went to town for shopping. Nick left me in town, walking off, again with no money or supplies. He told me he would be good if I would buy him a video game and I said some words that I'd rather not repeat (mostly meaning 'No!' or 'Why should I pay bribes?') I finished my shopping and went home.
When Dan came home, he wasn't too happy with Nick or me. He had me call the library and see if Nick was there. He was, so Dan went and got him, against my wishes. So he's back home, waiting to see if they're going to let him back in Job Corps. I hope they do, cuz I'm not living like this.
Dan has to take Ben and Andy back to Lexington tomorrow morning. I told him to take Nick with him. He said he would. I am serously NOT in a good mood. God help me if I wake up in the morning and find Nick laying in bed.
And, on top of all that, I caught Belinda smoking again!
This has not been my best week.

Good heavens, Gayle. That child is a trial for sure. Reminds me of my Shawn, thankfully he has gotten better. Sometimes these kids just have to find their own way.
Josh caught a gastroinestinal bug that had him down for most of yesterday. I feel so bad for him but I hope I don't catch it.

Christy, keep washing your hands (and Josh's) and disinfecting the toilet and you should be ok.
Dan left with the boys this morning. Tim and Doug went fishing and Belinda is watching tv. It's so nice and peaceful here. I hope Tim and Doug catch something. It would be nice to have fresh fish. I almost never buy it from the store anymore. It's getting nigh impossible to find any that's wild caught in the good old USA.
I hope Dan comes home with Nick. I have the feeling he's going to walk off in Lexington and not come back home. I told Dan how I felt, before he left, and he said he was thinking the same thing.
There's a possibility that Job Corps will let him come back. They're having a meeting to discuss it and are supposed to let us know by Tuesday. But, if Nick is gone, he'll be throwing away his best opportunity for a good life.

Gayle, has Nick thought about going in the service? It might help him.
I'm off work today, so after tending the critters, I watered the buckets, picked some cherry and grape tomatoes and a bell pepper, and cut the lettuce. The spinach bolted, so I'll probably cut it down this week, too. I'll taste and if it's not bitter, I'll eat it.
Gave the chicks a mashed up boiled egg, and they went into a feeding frenzy. That wore them out and they're all sleeping now. Dave's gonna watch them outside for me this afternoon so I can clean out their box. We're going to his mom's after lunch to pull up a stump of a big azalea bush for her. I have to start on a paper today for school; it's due tomorrow.
Today should be a pretty restful day.
