Tonight we're having beefy mac. Totally wrong for my diet, but totally perfect for the first day back to work.

I don't think I want to cook tonight. Last night all 4 kids were here (first time since Christmas), and I cooked 2 chickens in the crockpot, mashed potatoes and gravy, and stir fried veggies. Maybe we'll just have breakfast or something.

Oh yeah, we had a great visit with them! We're slapping some pork sirloin steaks on the grill. I have some kind of rice mix in the cupboard to make with them, and I think I'll throw a cauliflower in to roast, too. Hey, my yellow squash froze in the fridge. Reckon they'll still cook up OK? (oh yeah, I turned the fridge up a little bit)

I didn't try it yet. I hope it didn't already thaw and mess it up. We're having beef & broccoli (the beef being meatballs) with rice tonight.

Tonight we're having chicken with either a mesquite seasoning, or a bbq dry rub. I'm hoping to grill it, but we might have to cook it indoors. I'll serve cucumber and the rest of yesterday's macaroni salad with it.

I didn't realize we were fasting this month ;-)
Ds and I have both been pulling 14+ hours away from the house each day...I don't need it or care about it one way or the other, but ds is having trouble carrying enough food to get him through, so I bought a couple pounds of Italian sausages and 3 lbs of chicken breasts to help get him through his days (he is busy with 2 orchestras with extra practices before upcoming performances, end of school sports, end of school tutorials and exams...I am just sitting in horrendous traffic...)
I par boiled the sausages yesterday (I also made 4 salads yesterday - 2 kinds of green, pasta with veg, fruit), so just need to get them and the chicken (they are marinating in lime juice, perrins, red wine vinegar, soy sauce and other seasonings) on the grill, put on a pot of rice, warm the beans...

LORD HAVE MERCY that child can eat a LOT of meat!!!
I had 14 chicken breasts (they were a little small) and 11 sausages...I ate one sausage...ds ate 5 pieces of chicken and 3 sausages (among other stuff) when we sat down, and then before bed he ate another sausage and another piece of chicken...
So while there isn't as much as I was hoping for left over, there is still enough to make his lunch for the rest of the week!
I'll have to make a pot of pulled pork or something...

LOL, feeding teenagers is kind of like piling dry wood on a fire. My daughter used to eat even more than my son. I remember my mom referring to me as a bottomless pit a few times, too. DJ and Sam took me to lunch yesterday and we ate pretty late. I got Dave something to go and I finished off what he didn't eat, so that was supper. He's not eating tonight, and I really really want sauerkraut and kielbasa, but there are some pretty fine leftovers in the fridge that I feel like I oughta eat first. I guess I can always eat the saurkraut for lunch later in the week, since I'm off for the summer now.

LOL, feeding teenagers is kind of like piling dry wood on a fire. That is a good one...and fairly accurate!!! I always ate more than my brother did, but I was more active that he was...I guess it is all in perspective, ds is on the move all day long and then some. Anyhow, he looks underfed...he isn't...but point being the quantity of food isn't hurting him!
